What to expect at your first treatment

• When you come for your first treatment please be prepared to spend a couple of hours here.  Subsequent sessions will last no longer than an hour,
• Have something light to eat before you come and avoid caffeine and alcohol.
• Many points are located on your arms and lower legs and feet so it would be helpful if you wear loose clothing.
• We will talk in detail about the problem that has brought you for acupuncture but we will also discuss many other aspects of your general health.  I will also look at your tongue and take your pulses.  All of this detail helps to build up a pattern of your health, undertstand what is happening inside your body and enable me to make a diagnosis.
• Your first session will include your first acupuncture treatment ~ have a look at the FAQ section to learn more about what to expect from the needles and the procedure.
• We will discuss your personal treatment plan before you leave and chat about what to expect.  Some people respond very quickly to acupuncture and may only need one or two treatments, other people will experience a gentler, more gradual improvement and will need initially to commit to 6 treatments .
• Most people find acupuncture relaxing and often feel a sense of calm after treatment.
